One of our authors recently shared quite a long list of awards for self-published authors. Her action inspired us to qualify that list and find the best awards where our authors can submit their books for consideration.
It includes information on award deadlines, fees, contacts, when it will be announced and information to help you determine if your book will qualify (like publication dates).
We love the books you create – you’ve poured your heart and soul into them (never mind the countless hours) and we want to make it easier on you to have your hard work recognized.
Our qualification process was based on three primary pieces: currently accepting submissions, valid opportunity for independent authors and ensuring the award carries some weight and weren’t just a scam. Unfortunately, the third part disqualified many on our list, as is seems there are (sadly) several companies that just host book festivals/awards to make a profit. For an interesting read, you should check out “Awards Profiteering: The Book Festival Empire of JM Northern Media” from the Writer Beware blog.
Most of these submissions are really easy – there are no long submission forms to fill out. Essentially, you submit a nominal fee and send your book in for review. Your work will stand for itself and hopefully will be recognized as the crème de la crème.
Our list of awards is extensive, but let us know if you are aware of others, what your experience with these awards has been and if you’ve taken home awards for any of your books.
We hope to see your book win soon!
