Imagine offering your audience a curated set of books right from your storefront. Whether it's a trilogy box set, a series of related workbooks, or a combination of your bestselling titles, bundling has always been a profitable and effective way to offer more products to your fans.
What is Product Bundling?
Product bundling allows you to sell multiple items together as a single product listing in your store. Bundling multiple products has long been a valuable way to offer more products without actually creating anything new.
In the publishing world, epic fantasies are among the most well known for bundling. For example, here’s the product page for the popular book, A Game of Thrones:
You can find this listing on Bookshop.org. It’s for a single copy of the mass market paperback. If you just want to read the book and aren’t looking to spend a lot of money on your copy, this is the way to go.
Now, here is that same book bundled with the rest of the series:
The actual story George R. R. Martin wrote is exactly the same, whether you get the bundle or the individual books. The difference is the presentation. The product you’re buying. The mass market book is for jamming into your backpack and reading while you eat lunch or ride public transit. The bundle is for displaying on a bookshelf.
For creators, this feature is a game-changer. You can group complementary books or products in a way that provides extra value to your customers, while boosting your sales potential by offering the same product in different forms.
Why Add Book Bundles to Your Store?
Whether you’re a fiction writer building a business around your books or an entrepreneur who offers books as a supplement to your other products or services, bundling is a potent way to make more money.

Here are the top reasons you should add book bundles to your online store:
- Boost Revenue with Series Bundles - Offering an entire book series as a single package gives readers a cost-effective way to immerse themselves in your world. It's an attractive offer for fans, and since the bundle price is often lower than buying individual books, it encourages customers to spend more in one go.Customers are often more willing to spend a little extra to get a complete set or a better deal. And, since you’re not actually creating a new book, there’s very little work to do before offering your bundle.
- Attract New Readers Through Themed Collections - Curate bundles based on themes or genres (e.g., a collection of romance novels or mysteries). This helps target niche audiences and increases the chances of selling multiple books at once, providing a better introduction to your work.It also creates a terrific entry point into your books and or to a long series with a lot of content and characters.
- Encourage Reader Loyalty - Bundles foster stronger engagement with your readers. Readers don’t purchase multiple books from an author on a whim—they do so when they’re eager to immerse themselves in your content. Choosing to purchase a book bundle is a huge indicator that your fan is a ‘true fan’—the kind of reader who will eagerly purchase all of your offerings. These fans are the core of your business.
- Offer Exclusive Content - Bundles can include bonus materials, like short stories, behind-the-scenes insights, or alternate endings, making them more appealing to your readers. This is a terrific way to create exclusivity—the bundle doesn’t just include all the books in a series, it has something a little extra to entice your readers.
- Provide a Comprehensive Solution - All of the above reasons apply primarily to fiction authors, but book bundles are also useful for businesses that offer educational or supplement content. Course creators might create bundles that include all necessary materials—textbooks, workbooks, teacher guides, and digital resources—to simplify the purchasing process. Customers won’t need to shop around for supplements, creating a one-stop-shop experience.
How to Create and Sell Product Bundles
Launching your first bundle with Lulu Direct is easy. Follow these simple steps to bundle your Lulu projects today!
Bundles
Create a bundle to offer multiple Lulu projects in a single product listing. Perfect for pairing a print edition with a companion edition, guide, or workbook.
Bundles are currently only available on your connected Lulu Direct stores.
Step 1: Start Your Bundle
Go to the Lulu Direct Dashboard and scroll down to the button to Create a Bundle. You’ll create your bundle, just like creating a new book project using our simple, guided process.
The first step involves giving your bundle a name, selecting your projects to include, and assembling images for your bundle.
The ‘Bundle Name’ is primarily for your purposes when managing your bundle in Lulu or through your ecommerce platform. Select at least two products from your existing Lulu Direct Store to include in your bundle.
Each project you include in your bundle automatically adds the cover thumbnail. The primary thumbnail is the first one that will appear on your bundle’s product page.
You can rearrange them and add additional images (like a display of all the books together) to include in your product page.
Step 2: Review and Publish
And that’s it! All that’s left is to give your new bundle a review and publish it! Once your bundle is published, it’s ready to be added to your Lulu Direct store.
Tips for Selling Your Book Bundles
With your new bundle created and ready to list on your store, it’s time to get to marketing!
Bundles offer many opportunities for promotion. Highlight savings by purchasing in a bundle is one of the most common ways to promote your bundle. If you’ve got the option through your ecommerce platform, it’s great to show a ‘full price’ and a reduced version to emphasize the value to your readers.
Another key marketing tactic associated with product bundles is exclusive content. That might mean special editions of your books that go in the series, or include an exclusive project that isn’t available outside of your bundle. You’ve got a ton of possibilities here, so get creative and find ways to delight your fans while driving more sales.
Finally, seasonal bundles—holiday editions, themed bundles, or limited-time sets—can help you earn even more sales during the busiest time of the year. We all know that gift sets are a popular way to give during the holiday season. Thanks to the ease of creating book bundles, you can jump on the gift set bandwagon with minimal effort on your part.
